  • Intro:

Produced from unusual agave grown at high altitudes, this Mexicano is a unique look at mezcal distilled in atypical circumstances.

  • Nose:

Fresh melon, like cantaloupe. Sweet cream cheese, light brine. Faint plastic note. Lots of clay.

  • Taste:

Sweet and complex. Loaded with cream sweetness, fresh cracked pepper, light clay. No bitterness or astringency - something I was worried about from the nose. Lightly smoky, with a surprisingly rich mouth feel.

  • Finish:

Long, a tiny bit hot. Some woody ash. Clay, crushed stone, creamy vanilla sweetness.

  • Overall:

Complex and delicious. Big fan of this expression for walking the sweet and ashy line without diving into one or the other too heavily.

  • Score:

    7
