  • Excerpt: Despite the agave's rough reputation, the nose here is relatively mild, showing some sweetness, floral notes and citrus peel. The palate reinforces the nose and adds black pepper to the mix, along with modest whiffs of smoke and earthy-vegetal components--a powerhouse lurking beneath a proper demeanor.

Raided Score is a conversion from an external site's score, to our in house uniform scoring system. Please see the FAQ for more.

  • Intro:

This expression from Rey Campero is distilled using Jabali Agave, a seldom used strain for the most part. Distilled by Romulo Sanchez Parada using copper, this foam cannon of an agave is sure to be interesting. Let's give it a go.

  • Nose:

Big, fruity, loaded with hickory, faint smoke, faint plastic.

  • Taste:

Sweet, lots of creamy sweetness before a fruity boquet. Some hickory, some light smoke, mostly a bright, sweet fruit bomb. Kiwi, pear, mango, banana runts.

  • Finish:

Long, complex and sweet. Almost a faint mintiness to pair with the fruit and wood.

  • Overall:

Interesting, unique, complex. Lots going on, all of it good and also interesting. Jabali is wild in the best way.

  • Score:

    7
