Excerpt: Pears and apples, mango and papaya meet with confectioners sugar, ashy smoke, a touch of minerality and light pepper. Smoke here is integrated far better than others I’ve tried and while it’s not the most interesting profile, at least it isn’t overpowering.
Excerpt: The tequila feels full and soft on the palate initially and reveals a mix of herbal, earthy, and roasted vegetable notes. Of course the smoke again is here, but it doesn't dominate every other flavor. The tequila has a peppery bite and it feels lightly slick on your palate at the finish.

House Review
Intro:
Smoked tequila as emerged as a quietly simmering trend of 2023. Patron previously dipped its toes into the technique with the release of a $200 Gran Patron Smoky and are now doubling down with a pair of more affordable $70 bottlings. Lets dig into the blanco.
Nose:
Pleasant sweet agave notes, a touch of tropical fruit and confectioners sugar, clean smoke.
Taste:
Pears and apples, mango and papaya meet with confectioners sugar, ashy smoke, a touch of minerality and light pepper. Smoke here is integrated far better than others I’ve tried and while it’s not the most interesting profile, at least it isn’t overpowering.
Finish:
Short finish that’s fruit forward and smoke adjacent - this saves the pour in my eyes, returning it to agave first and profile change due to smoke second.
Overall:
I’m still not sold on the Ahumado trend, but at least this bottling has character.
