This is a revisit of a spirit I've tried once before, and had the opportunity to revisit on a fresh palate. This past month's Maguey Melate box came with a 50ml sample of this, so the stage was set just right. Distilled from Cenizo on Copper, this comes to us as a brand headed by Asis Cortes. Let's get to it.
Sweet and roasty, lots of pineapple, apple, roasted corn and pepper. Lovely minerality here, faintly floral, some nice cream.
Thin to medium mouth feel on the palate. Sweet honey, light almond, nice pepper and a papaya note that is really enticing. Faint pepper, light bubblegum.
Long, rich and loaded with fruit and sweet notes. Pineapple, mango, papaya, vanilla cream, faint bubble gum.
Lovely and complex, this is really something. I’m all over it.
