Distilled by Emilio Vieyra using Agave Cupreata, this expression is distilled on copper, aged in glass for a year and then bottled up. This is Lot 27 from November of 2016. Lets dive in.
Closed off on the nose, but whats there is really interesting. Honey, lemon curd, clove, cocoa, faint leather notes. Sweet, savory, rich. No pepper or smoke.
Sweet and rich on the palate. Cream and honey, cocoa and vanilla bean, faint ash, lovely clove note. Hint of garlic, fresh green bell pepper but only faintly. Complex.
Long finish, a bit ashier here. Bright pepper notes, clove, honey, cocoa and a lovely minerality smoke richness.
Really great overall, demonstrating some interesting character thats really enticing. This is my first Don Mateo and almost assuredly not my last.
