  • Intro:

Catedral de Mi Padre was launched in 2022 by father-daughter duo Jeff and Sydney Block. This bottling, crafted by Master Mezcalero Joel Santiago Hernandez in the mountains near Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, blends tried-and-true Agave espadin with herbaceous, typically terroir-forward Agave cuishe. Let's dive in.

  • Nose:

Fresh and clean on the nose, this pour pops with green bell pepper, crushed stone, lemon zest, light salinity, a touch of green beans and lovely sweet confectioners sugar.

  • Taste:

Pleasant on the palate, fun tug of war between clay and bell pepper and jalapeños and sweet, fruity tarts like lemon and lime. Touch of pepper, pleasant salinity, rich and easy to dig into.

  • Finish:

Short clean finish that’s pleasant and peppery with a heavy slate component and just a pop of lime zest.

  • Overall:

Really lovely stuff, it’s easy to drink and easier to enjoy with a savory standoff between minerality and fruit.

  • Score:

    7
